Lt. Col Thet Paing Tun, Who Fled From The Lucky Men Hotel, Was Shot Dead And Subsequently Apprehended

Lt. Col. Thet Paing Tun, who fled from the skirmish at Hpakant-Seng Tawng, was pursued and subsequently killed by the joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). Local reports indicate that his body was discovered on the night of October 9th.


Lt. Col. Thet Paing Tun is recognized as the commander of the SAC’s 119th Infantry Battalion, and he issued the orders to incinerate and demolish Seng Tawng village. Furthermore, he was based at the Lucky Men Hotel for nearly a month during the conflict in Seng Tawng.


On the night of October 8th, as the KIA forces initiated their offensive, over ten SAC troops, accompanied by Lt. Col. Thet Paing Tun, escaped from the Lucky Men Hotel. Consequently, the KIA pursued the fleeing SAC personnel for two days, ultimately discovering the lifeless body of Lt. Col. Thet Paing Tun near U Ru Creek.


It has been reported by local residents that Lt. Col. Thet Paing Tun was responsible for the order to incinerate and demolish the village of Seng Tawng. Additionally, on the morning of October 8th, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) launched an assault and successfully seized the State Administration Council (SAC) camp located at the Lucky Men Hotel in Seng Tawng. Currently, it is indicated that the KIA maintains control over Seng Tawng village.


It has been observed that skirmishes have occurred since September 7th at the Lucky Men Hotel in Seng Tawng village, resulting from the offensive actions of the SAC troops under the command of Lt. Col. Thet Paing Tun. The clashes between the two armed-forces have been intense.
