The Laiza Court has handed down a 30-year prison sentence along with the death penalty to U Ohn Saung Doi Aung on March 29 for the abduction and murder of three young girls, approximately 10 years old, according to a local source who wants to remain unknown.
The accused was formally charged on March 21 under multiple legal provisions, including Section 364 for kidnapping with intent to murder, Section 302(1)(b) of the Penal Code for murder, and Section 376 for child sexual abuse. However, the court dismissed the charge under Section 376 due to insufficient evidence.
During the sentencing on March 29, the court ruled as follows: 10 years of hard labor under Section 364 for kidnapping, 20 years of imprisonment under Section 376 for child sexual abuse and Death penalty under Section 302(1)(b) for committing murder in the course of another crime. Each charge carried a separate sentence, underscoring the gravity of the crimes.
U Ohn Saung Doi Aung was apprehended on February 25 and later presented before Laiza Court on March 17 and 18, where he admitted to the crimes. Following further investigation on March 20, formal charges were brought against him on March 21, leading to the final verdict on March 29.
The incident took place on February 22, when three young girls, estimated to be around 10 years old, were abducted near the Je Yang IDP camp in Laiza. The victims had been visiting a female teacher, the accused’s wife, before being kidnapped and later brutally murdered by the perpetrator.
