The Ministry of Human Rights under the National Unity Government (NUG) has reported that between March 2023 and March 2025, the State Administration Council (SAC) conducted 2,190 airstrikes on public areas, resulting in the deaths of 372 children. The findings were released on March 17.

NUG has strongly denounced these targeted attacks on locations such as markets, schools, religious sites—including Buddhist temples and Christian churches—and healthcare facilities. The ministry emphasized that such acts are a blatant breach of international humanitarian law and a direct violation of child protection principles in armed conflicts. These attacks fall under the six most severe violations against children, including killing and maiming.

In response, NUG has called for the military council to be held accountable through international human rights and judicial mechanisms, citing its continuous disregard for human rights laws and international child protection standards.

One of the recent attacks occurred on the evening of March 14, when an airstrike hit a market in Let Pan Hla Village, Sint Ku Township, Mandalay Region. The assault claimed the lives of 21 civilians, including six children—one of whom was a four-month-old baby.

Another deadly strike took place on March 16 in northern Shan State, where an air raid targeted the Sein Yadana Pariyatti seminary in Naung Cho Township. The attack killed two monks, five young novices under 18, a civilian man, and two women, while leaving several others injured.
