The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) has launched renewed offensives against the remaining military bases in Bhamo, Kachin State, starting at 5 a.m. on March 8.

KIA joint forces are targeting the State Administration Council’s (SAC) No. 21 Military Operations Command (MOC-21), the 47th Infantry Division, and several bases located on the university campus. Meanwhile, SAC forces continue counterattacks using aircraft and drones.

“The fighting has been ongoing for days, and it is extremely intense. The Hein Aung gas station has reportedly been burned down. That gas station is near the MOC-21, where SAC soldiers are also taking shelter,” a local village elder stated.

Hostilities in Bhamo have persisted for over three months, with SAC carrying out daily air and drone strikes. However, reports indicate that KIA forces have successfully captured some outposts of MOC-21.

Additionally, the Wara Zup militia under SAC has been conducting military operations along the Tanai-Lido highway, engaging in clashes with KIA forces.
