On April 9, 2025, KIA Deputy Commander-in-Chief Gun Maw announced that preliminary coordination discussions between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA/KIO) and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA/PSLF) have commenced in northern Shan State. This dialogue aims to address territorial disputes and strengthen cooperation between the two groups.
Gun Maw urged local communities to support these efforts and called for constructive contributions from online users, media outlets, and advisors. He emphasized the importance of mutual understanding and collaboration for the success of these negotiations.
The KIA and TNLA have historically cooperated militarily but have faced tensions over territory administration. This initiative marks a significant step toward resolving longstanding issues and fostering unity among ethnic armed organizations.
