In reference to the statement released by the Shan-ni Regional Judiciary Committee on April 5th, the Kachin Traditional Literature and Culture Association and Shan-ni Traditional Literature and Culture Association convened a meeting on April 6th and subsequently issued a joint statement.
The joint statement asserts that U Seng Aung, U Naw Ja, U Naw Tawng, and U Zaw Mai, individuals implicated by the Shan-ni Regional Judiciary Committee, are not pertinent to the specific warning issued by the aforementioned committee.
A 60-year-old Shan-ni resident from Mohnyin Township provided the following account of the Shan-ni Judiciary Committee’s statement: "Despite the current political challenges in Mohnyin, it is generally regarded as a peaceful town. The diverse ethnic groups residing in Mohnyin maintain harmonious relations. However, there have been deliberate attempts to sow discord between the Shan-ni and Kachin communities" as indicated by local residents. Instances of such divisive letters circulating have been reported in the past.
