According to local residents, there has been an outage of electricity in Nammar Town for about a month.

The electricity was shut down due to a windstorm that occurred last May.

According to the EPC staff, utility poles were knocked down by the heavy windstorm, and there weren’t any replacement poles available. Additionally, the utility poles had to be transported from Mandalay, which caused delays.

“Many of the utility poles were broken during the windstorm. The new utility poles were not ready to replace them. We had to order the utility poles from Mandalay, and due to the delay in transportation, we could not replace them in a short time,” an EPC employee said.

The electricity outage in Nammar has lasted almost a month, causing significant difficulties in the daily lives of the residents.

Moreover, during the replacement and repair of the utility poles, wire cables were stolen by drug users, necessitating rewiring.

However, the EPC employee added that since the repairs are almost completed, it is likely that electricity will be restored within three days. The accused thieves who cut and stole the cables have also been arrested.
