It is reported that, the internet can be used by paying 20,000 ks per hour in Myitkyina city where the phone signals and internet cut off. In addition, the money transactions can be also done with 3000 ks transition fees per lakh. As said by a local resident, the money can only be withdrawn and transferred 10 lakhs per person.

Even though the Internet can be used by paying 20,000 ks per hour at Nan Htike Ko Store which is located in Tatkone Ward, there are only 8 people can be used within one hour and people have to pay money in advance.

As said by a local resident, “I heard that the internet can be used at Nan Htike Ko Store. But when I got there, they said that the tokens until 4:00 tomorrow evening were taken. There is only this store which is accessing internet in the town, so people crowded around that store. Some are waiting for tokens and some going back after buying the tokens.”

Since August 10th the internet can be used in limited time in Nan Htike Ko Store. Therefore, many local residents are rushing to use the internet and it is also stated that there are approximately 40 people who are waiting at the store to use the internet every day.

Moreover, the store opens at 7:30 in the morning and closes at 5:00 in the evening. So, people are only allowed to use in the limited time.

In addition, the KPay and Wavepay money transaction services can also be done in that store with 3000 ks transition fees per lakh. But the people who transfer large amount of money only need to pay 300 ks transition fees per lakh.

The phone signals and internet have been cut off in July 21st due to the unstable political situation in Kachin State.
