Frequent clashes have erupted near Myitkyina as the military junta escalates troop movements and offensives in surrounding areas.

Fierce fighting continues between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA)-allied forces and junta troops in Bhamo, Hpakant, and Waingmaw-Lamyang regions. Meanwhile, the military has intensified security checks on civilians in areas outside Myitkyina, conducting repeated interrogations of passersby.

A local resident reported increased junta inspections near Kyarayatpi and areas beyond the 10-mile:

"Now, they’re stationed at every corner, waiting and checking everyone. On Kyarapati Road, they even search mothers carrying babies. Recently, they’ve also resumed operations near Nawng Nang."

In Nammati Township, the military has maintained heightened activity since February, including ongoing recruitment drives.

Political analysts warn that the junta’s positioning of troops around Myitkyina signals impending escalation, with civilians potentially used as human shields.

Nighttime artillery fire has grown frequent, alarming residents. The military’s indiscriminate attacks on resistance forces and civilians have prompted warnings for communities to prepare bomb shelters and avoid drone strikes, airstrikes, and heavy weaponry.
