Local residents have reported that heavy artillery fire has been occurring randomly in the vicinity of Hopin Nant Yin Village since April 1st. This has caused significant concern among the local population, who have been evacuating to safer areas due to the explosions.

The daily artillery fire has resulted in injuries and fatalities among the local residents. On April 1st, heavy artillery was fired from the other side of the Nant Yin Creek from 5:00 AM. Additionally, SAC helicopters hovered around the village at 12:00 PM, prompting the residents to evacuate.

According to one local resident, the heavy artillery fire was continuous, even in the absence of armed clashes. The explosions caused injuries and deaths, leading the residents to flee as soon as they heard the sound of the shells. The shells primarily fell on the farmland near Nant Yin Village, deterring the locals from accessing their agricultural fields. Some residents sought shelter in trenches, while others fled immediately upon hearing the artillery fire.

Furthermore, on March 3rd, the SAC No(40) Hopin Battalion discharged heavy artillery which unfortunately detonated in close proximity to a family returning from their farmland. Tragically, the male member of the family perished instantly while the female sustained severe injuries.

As per the accounts of the residents of Hopin Nant Yin Village, the initial heavy artillery discharge by the SAC No (40) Battalion landed near the returning family, resulting in the immediate demise of the male individual. The subsequent discharge again occurred near the family, causing grievous injuries to the female. Remarkably, their three-year-old child remained unscathed. Two villagers undertook the task of retrieving the deceased individual’s body, however, during their endeavor, another heavy artillery shell landed nearby, compelling them to abandon the body and seek cover. Consequently, the deceased individual’s funeral was devoid of attendees as the majority of villagers had already fled the area.

Since the commencement of April, the vicinity of Hopin Nant Yin Village has been subjected to daily heavy artillery fire, prompting the local inhabitants to seek refuge elsewhere. Additionally, local residents have reported that the SAC has employed excavators to dig ditches on both sides of the Nant Yin bridge, rendering it impassable.
