HkatCho Village Artillery Shell Explosions Result in Tragic Loss of Lives

It has been reported that eight individuals have unfortunately lost their lives as a result of artillery shell explosions in Hkat Cho Village, Waingmaw Town, as confirmed by local residents.


On May 20th, a heavy artillery explosion occurred in Hkat Cho village, tragically resulting in the deaths of six residents, including two children. Additionally, over ten individuals sustained severe injuries.


Regrettably, one of the injured individuals, a woman, succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical treatment at Myitkyina General Hospital. She had sustained abdominal injuries and passed away three days later despite medical intervention.


Furthermore, on May 22nd, another woman undergoing medical treatment also passed away, bringing the total number of fatalities from the artillery shell explosions in Hkat Cho Village to eight. It is important to note that over ten injured local residents continue to receive medical care at Myitkyina General Hospital.


The escalation of skirmishes between the SAC and KIA, triggered by the KIA’s second offensive attacks commencing on May 18th, has intensified the conflict. Consequently, the SAC’s Northern HeadQuarter military camp has resorted to employing heavy artillery, targeting the areas where these clashes are taking place.


On May 20th and 21st, the local residents of Hkat Cho village suffered casualties and injuries due to the SAC’s heavy artillery fire. Consequently, despite the absence of any direct conflict, the residents were compelled to evacuate to ensure their safety due to the continuous missile attacks by the SAC.


Furthermore, on May 18th, three local residents from the Pamatti Ward lost their lives, while eight others sustained injuries as a result of the SAC’s heavy artillery shelling.
