It is reported that a force exceeding 100 members from the SAC's No (437) Battalion unleashed heavy artillery fire directed at Hka Nan Ward. Consequently, numerous local inhabitants, including those from Hka Nan Ward, have been evacuated to ensure their safety.
A resident from Hka Nan Ward recounted, “Last night, a force exceeding 100 SAC members moved towards Hka Nan Ward, commencing heavy artillery fire which persisted throughout the night. Moreover, since early this morning, they have stationed themselves at the Momauk Public Hospital,” he disclosed.
Furthermore, at approximately 8:00 AM today, the SAC initiated heavy artillery shelling, leading to the evacuation of almost all local residents from Hka Nan Ward to safety, as the SAC camp in Bhamo also engaged in heavy weapon fire.
The aforementioned resident continued, “The majority of our Hka Nan Ward residents have successfully evacuated to safety. However, a small number, approximately 2 or 3 families, remain trapped within the village. These trapped individuals are currently facing imminent danger from heavy artillery and have taken refuge in trenches,” he elaborated.
Another local resident reported that despite the continuous heavy artillery barrage by the SAC, residents managed to flee to safety, resulting in no reported casualties thus far.
Reports indicated a clash between the SAC forces from the No (437) Battalion and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) around 8:00 AM; however, residents denied any retaliatory attack by the KIA. Consequently, Pajau Media has been unable to independently verify this information.
Presently, the SAC is deploying heavy artillery fire at intervals of every 5 minutes, heightening the military tension between the two armed factions.
