The city of Myitkyina has been engulfed by the loud sounds of heavy weaponry since the afternoon, causing widespread concern among residents.

Reports indicate that the noise of artillery fire began shortly after 12:00 PM, escalating from 2:00 PM onwards with intervals of every 10 minutes, and continuing to be heard as of the time of this report.

A resident of Myitkyina Shan Ywar Village shared his anxiety: “The sounds seem to be getting closer. The exact origin of the heavy weapons fire is unknown, but the noise is very loud. This is particularly distressing for the elderly, children, and those with heart conditions, who might be at risk of heart attacks. It's unlike the usual nighttime gunfire.”

Another resident confirmed, “I’ve been hearing the noise since noon. Initially, it seemed distant, but it grew louder and louder, making the house shake as if it was very near.”

Pajau media is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the ongoing heavy artillery shelling.

Local sources have noted that the sounds of heavy weapons have been a frequent occurrence in Myitkyina since the commencement of operations by the KIA joint forces.
