As reported by the medical staffs, there are medical supplies shortages in medical treatment and check-up, due to the one and a half month periods of the phone signals and the internet cut off in Kachin State.
According to a medical staff from the Private Clinic, “there aren’t any medical supplies attainable due to the road closure within these days. Most of the medical supplies seem shortages. There are a crowd of patients at the clinic every day, but we don’t have sufficient medical supplies. Most of the medicine which the patients ask for are in short supplies and the prices are also skyrocketing. Even paracetamols (PARA) are inadequate.”
It is known that the goods and medical supplies which transported to Kachin State are blocked due to the road closure and the cut off of phone signals and internets for more than one month. In addition, the scarcity of goods and medical supplies are experiencing in the region and the prices have also been skyrocketing.
As said by a medical staff who works at Non-Government Organization (NGO), the shortage of medical supplies leads to face several difficulties while giving medical treatment in the rural areas.
“The patients from the rural areas which I looked after and gave medical treatment in the previous days hadn’t got sufficient medical supports. Because, we don’t even have enough medical supplies and some are out of stock. For example, if I need to instruct 3 types of medicines as requirement per patient, I can just give them 1 or 2 types of medicines due to the shortages of medical supplies,” said the above medical staff.
Moreover, as the medical aids are in short supplies, the prices of the basic medicines which require for every household such as penicillin, paracetamol and spirits are skyrocketed than the previous. Therefore, the relevant officials from the Local Health Department announce the locals to pre-collect the medical aids which necessary for every household.
