As per local sources, the price of a bottle of gasoline in Putao Town, situated in northern Myanmar, has reached 50,000 kyats as of May 9th.
A local school teacher reported, "The price of gasoline has escalated from 35,000 kyats to 50,000 kyats per bottle within the week. Consequently, there has been a significant reduction in both vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the town. The prolonged closure of the Putao highway has resulted in an unprecedented situation, with the prices of goods and fuel experiencing an unprecedented surge."
The residents of the Putao region had anticipated the reopening of the roads following the capture of the Sumprabum Area by the joint forces of KIA/KPDF and KPF on May 5th. However, due to ongoing military tensions between the two armed forces, the reopening of the road remains uncertain.
