Local residents report that fuel tankers are prohibited at the SAC's Kar Mai checkpoint along the Myitkyina-Hpakant Road. This restriction has led to a fuel shortage in the Hpakant region, which is expected to pose challenges for jade mining companies operating in the area.

The limited availability of fuel in the Hpakant region has resulted in gas stations offering only restricted amounts, necessitating that customers queue up hastily to purchase the fuel.

At present, the price of a liter of gasoline in Hpakant town stands at 10,000 kyats, while a gallon has increased to 55,000 kyats. Furthermore, local residents report that the majority of gas stations in Hpakant are non-operational, leading to a shortage of fuel in the area. It is also noted that only the Shan Ma gas station, located near the entrance of Hpakant, and the Sin Phyu Taw gas station in Lone Khin city are currently open, albeit for limited hours.

The prohibition of fuel tankers at the SAC's checkpoint has reportedly led to a cessation of operations among jade mining companies. Additionally, individuals engaged in automotive-related businesses are expressing concerns regarding the potential challenges they may face.

Furthermore, it has been reported that if the current fuel shortage persists for an extended period, residents will be compelled to engage in the trade of jade solely on foot. Likewise, both Myitkyina and WaingMaw towns have experienced a fuel shortage lasting nearly a week due to the closure of the Kanpaik Ti border trade gate.
