It has been reported that a barrack house accommodating nine families was unfortunately destroyed by an electrical fire incident at the KBC IDP camp in ChiPwi, Kachin State.

The incident occurred due to an electrical shock at approximately 3:30 AM on July 11th, while the camp’s residents were asleep. Regrettably, all the belongings of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) were consumed by the fire, and the barracks were entirely reduced to ashes.

The affected barracks housed approximately 45 IDPs from nine families. Fortunately, the evacuees managed to escape unharmed and are currently making arrangements for temporary shelters within the IDP camp. However, they are in urgent need of assistance.

It is noteworthy that this IDP camp had recently been affected by flooding in early July. Consequently, due to this fire incident, the evacuees in the IDP camps are in dire need of basic food items and cooking utensils.
