As reported by the Putao locals, even though the mini cars which carry goods are started entering to Putao region, the prices of goods in the Putao are still skyrocketing.
The mini cars have reported to enter to the Putao region since August 30th. At present, the price of rice costs 280,000 kyats per sack, 1 liter of fuel costs 20,000 kyats, 30 pieces of eggs cost 24,000 kyats, 1 viss of cooking oil costs 35,000 kyats, 1 viss of onion costs 12,000 kyats and 1 pack of salt costs 5,000 kyats in the Putao region.
The Putao local residents said that current situation of scarcity of goods in the Putao region has never experienced in the past.
In addition, the local Social Relief Associations are also reported to face difficulty in lending a hand to the locals who need helps due to the rising price of fuel and the cut off of phone signals and the internet in the Putao region.
Although the MEC, ATOM, OOREDOO phone operators are cut off in the region, sometimes the ATOM phone signal and internet is operating at the midnight time.
The goods in Putao region are reported to ship with the aircrafts since the highway closure and the goods are still in skyrocketing prices at present. Furthermore, the aircrafts which load goods and green groceries are increasing while there are just 2 or 3 passengers on the flights which fly to Putao region within these days.
