There is an urgent appeal for humanitarian aid for over 4,000 evacuees who have fled Seng Tawng village in the Hpakant region of Kachin State, where military conflict persists.
The conflict between KIA joint forces and SAC forces has been escalating since September 4th.
Due to the ongoing clashes between the two armed groups, many residents from Seng Tawng village were forced to evacuate to safer areas.
According to reports from the evacuees, over 4,000 people who fled for safety are now in dire need of food, essential supplies, and clean drinking water.
Many evacuees are currently seeking refuge in local churches, monasteries, and the homes of relatives. However, some residents remain trapped inside the village, unable to escape.
Those still in the village have been prohibited from leaving by the SAC. Meanwhile, the evacuees are struggling as they were unable to bring sufficient food and supplies due to the sudden intensification of the conflict.
The situation remains volatile, with the fighting between KIA joint forces and SAC forces in the Hpakant-Seng Tawng region showing no signs of de-escalation. The clashes are expected to intensify further.
