Amid escalating clashes in the Lawa region, displaced civilians who fled to Namati Baptist Church are now facing severe shortages of food and medical supplies, according to sources among the displaced.
Initially, many sought refuge in remote mountainous areas, but as conditions worsened over time, they were forced to seek shelter at the Namati Baptist Church. Among the displaced are numerous children and elderly individuals, many of whom are in urgent need of medical assistance.
Additionally, there is a growing need for nutritious food and basic relief supplies to sustain their livelihoods. Although aid organizations have recently provided some assistance, larger families report that the support remains insufficient, and overcrowding has led to further difficulties in securing adequate shelter.
The displaced villagers from Lawa began fleeing on March 31 after junta troops advanced into the area, forcing them into the forests. By April 5, they had relocated to Namati Village, with over 100 households now seeking refuge there.
