In Bhamo, located in Kachin State, there has been a reduction in armed conflict between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the State Administration Council (SAC). However, reports indicate that the SAC persists in conducting aerial bombardments using aircraft and drones, as well as employing heavy weaponry.
The KIA joint force has established control over the majority of Bhamo town and persists in its assaults on the remaining military bases of the SAC. They are currently blockading and engaging the 21st SAC military base, while reports indicate a reduction in skirmishes within the town.
The SAC conducted an aerial assault on Bhamo town, executing the operation without any ground confrontations. On January 20, a total of 36 bombs were dropped, followed by an additional four on January 21. The targeted locations included the vicinity of Shwe Kyi Noodle Shop, near Nam Pha Road (Bilu Ma Creek), as well as the PinSinKone neighborhood, as reported by the Bhamo Scout Team, which monitors military developments in the area.
The conflict in Bhamo, ongoing for over six weeks, has inflicted significant destruction upon the city as a result of aerial bombardments, artillery shelling, and acts of arson. Furthermore, numerous residences belonging to local inhabitants have been reduced to ashes.
