It has come to our attention that the Pyu Saw Htee militias, operating under the State Administrative Council (SAC), have been engaging in the practice of demanding monetary payments from travelers who possess (5/) registration numbers within the Sagaing Region and Kachin State.

An individual traveling from Sagaing to Myitkyina reported being compelled to make a payment at a Pyu Saw Htee checkpoint due to the (5/) national registration.

Furthermore, travelers traversing the Sagaing Region have consistently encountered similar demands for money when encountering Pyu Saw Htee militias.

It is noteworthy that the Pyu Saw Htee militias appear to be specifically targeting individuals with Sagaing National Registration (5/) numbers, particularly those traveling along the border between the Sagaing Region and Kachin State.

A passenger car driver operating between Sagaing and Kachin informed Pajau media about the Pyu Saw Htee militias demanding money.

“The number of passengers has significantly decreased due to the excessive financial demands placed on them, adversely affecting our business.”

According to local sources, the Pyu Saw Htee militias in the Sagaing region specifically target travelers with (5/) national registration, assuming an association with local revolutionary armed groups opposed to the current State Administration Council.

These monetary demands create obstacles for travelers and hinder the mobility of local travelers as well as passenger car drivers.
