Clash Erupts Between KIA and Military Council in Ake Village

A clash between the KIA Joint Forces and the Military Council occurred on June 18 between Ake Village and Hparaw Village in Myitkyina Township.


The conflict began around 12:00 p.m. when Military Council troops entered Ake Village, prompting an attack from the KIA. The Military Council responded with heavy weapons fire.


Local residents reported that after about 20 minutes of fighting, loud weaponry was heard in Myitkyina town. Two hours later, heavy weapon shelling was heard every 10 minutes, continuing until 5:00 p.m.


On the morning of June 17, Military Council troops had dug up and destroyed the main road between Ake and Hparaw villages. Following this road destruction, the Military Council began patrolling near Ake Village, leading to the clash around noon on June 18.
