Motorists journeying from Myitkyina to Tanai report that the SAC and affiliated militia groups are imposing significant toll fees on travelers and cargo trucks at each checkpoint along the Myitkyina-Tanai Lido highway.

Passenger vehicles incur a fee of 70,000 kyats, whereas fuel and cargo trucks are subject to charges ranging from 1,000,000 to 5,000,000 kyats, contingent upon the volume of the goods being transported.

There exist over seven checkpoints established by the SAC and allied militia forces along the Myitkyina-Tanai Lido Highway. Reports indicate that both travelers and cargo trucks are subjected to stops and inspections at each checkpoint, with toll gate fees being levied at excessively high rates.

To transport a cargo truck between Myitkyina and Tanai, the cost is nearly five hundred thousand, and the SAC along with the joint forces are imposing excessively high gate fees at their discretion, which creates significant challenges for both travelers and motorists.

The distance separating Myitkyina from Tanai exceeds 100 miles; however, the condition of Lido Road has significantly hindered travel. The road's rough terrain necessitates that most vehicles be assisted by tractors, excavators, or elephants to navigate through the mud. Additionally, the ongoing fuel shortage and escalating fuel prices have compelled some drivers to cease their operations.
