Bhamo Airport has been closed indefinitely since yesterday, March 7, as no flights can land, and Myitkyina-Bhamo road has also been blocked.

Bhamo Airport was close indefinitely starting from yesterday due to a drone bomb, which destroyed the runway and making it hard for the plane to land, local sources said.

After the offensive operations by the KIA, the security in Bhamo became tighter, and the SAC said that the roads inside the town and the roads leading to the airport were also blocked.

In addition, the Myitkyina-Bhamo road was also blocked again due to the intensified clashes between militias and KIA which started yesterday.

Residents are concerned about the current conflict between the SAC and the KIA, with no place to flee to. "On the Bhamo side, Momauk and Daw Hpum Yang, as for Mansi side, the KIA already seized Si Hkan Gyi. And after seizing Maji Gong, Mai Hkaung is going to be seized again. After Mai Hkaung, Bhamo, Mansi again. So, there is no place to run to," she said.

In addition, at around 8:30 p.m. yesterday, the students and staffs of Bhamo University had to flee because the SAC ordered them to leave overnight. According to a local resident, the SAC ordered the students and staffs of the university to leave overnight so that they could station their base inside the university campus.

As KIA have launched offensive armed operations against the SAC outposts in the region the SAC and the KIA troops have been engaging in contact attacks. Until now, along Myitkyina-Bhamo Road and Laiza, the fighting situation in the region is still intense.

At present, clashes continues along the Myitkyina-Bhamo highway and it intense in Laiza and Momauk areas too.
