In reference to a local resident’s report, an engagement between the Kachin Independence Army and the SAC occurred in Ake village, situated along the Myitkyina-Mogaung highway within Kachin State. Regrettably, two female individuals sustained injuries, and a residential structure was incinerated due to artillery shell impacts.
A local resident said "An artillery shell struck and detonated in close proximity to the neighboring residence at approximately 12:00 PM at noon. The affected dwelling, constructed primarily of bamboo, was completely destroyed, along with two adjacent barns. Furthermore, the neighboring house was also impacted by artillery shells, resulting in several perforations; however, fortunately, it did not catch fire."
Regrettably, two women who were actively engaged in extinguishing the fire caused by the artillery shell also became casualties of the incident. "One of the women, while retrieving water to assist in extinguishing the flames, was struck in the abdomen by an artillery shell, causing significant bleeding. As a result, she was promptly transported to Myitkyina Hospital for medical attention. Additionally, an elderly woman sustained injuries to her leg due to the artillery shell’s impact and is scheduled to be transferred to a nearby clinic by local residents."
This morning, the 11th KIA battalion launched an offensive attack on the SAC military camp located in Ake Village. In response, the SAC forces defended their position, resulting in a clash that lasted approximately one hour.
The escalating armed conflict led to four artillery explosions in the vicinity of Ake Village. Regrettably, two women were injured, and a local house was damaged due to artillery shells during the second explosion.
It is worth noting that the SAC forces have been stationed in Ake Village since March 10th. Furthermore, it has been reported that there were additional clashes on March 13th due to the offensive actions of the KIA joint forces.
