According to a local resident, all the residents who were taken as hostages from Sar Maw Village in Mogaung Township have been released at approximately 12:00 PM on April 2nd.
As said by an official of the village, “All the arrestees have been released yesterday. There were more than 20 arrestees in a total. There were only 8 people released in the morning and the rest were released in the afternoon”.
Some of the residents of Sar Maw Village were taken as hostage by the SAC No (105) Battalion on April 1st, and all of them were released on April 2nd.
Among the arrestees, 8 were released yesterday morning, and more than 10 others were released after 12:00 in the afternoon with the coordination of the PCG (Peace Coordination Committee). In addition, there were at least 50 local residents who were taken as hostages by the SAC, including more than 30 people from the ICM church.
Although, there are reports that the ward administrator who was arrested by an unidentified group on March 31, has returned to the SAC No (105) Battalion camp, despite that the Pajau Media has not been able to confirm it.
“Some people are saying that the ward administrator has returned to the SAC (105) Battalion camp, but when we investigated again this morning, the news was false,” said another local resident.
The SAC also said that only when the ward administrator is released the residents who were taken as hostages from the village will be released. In addition, when the news came out that the ward administrator had been released, all the hostages who were arrested were released due to the coordination of the PCG.
