A fire nearly obliterated a two-story wooden residence located in Jan Mai Kaung Ward (1) of Myitkyina.
According to a local resident from Jan Mai Kawng ward, “the location is not distant from our position. The house has been entirely reduced to ashes. Although the fire has been put out, only the structural pillars remain. The two grandchildren are in a lamentable state.”
Residents of Jan Mai Kaung Ward reported that the fire was ignited by a candle, occurring while only an elderly woman and her young granddaughter were present in the home.
The fire ignited at approximately 8 PM on December 20th, resulting in the total destruction of the house and leaving no salvable items, including any household belongings.
The fire has now been extinguished, thanks to the efforts of the fire department and the assistance of the neighbors. However, the owner, an elderly woman, along with her grandson, continues to face challenges in securing a new place to reside.
