It has been over two months since the Shanni Militia apprehended the teacher who established a dormitory at the entrance of the InndawGyi Chaung Wa on September 14. According to family members, there has been no information regarding his whereabouts since that time.
A neighbor who observed the event reported that the abducted teacher is 55-year-old U Thant Zin Oo. He was apprehended at the Nant Mun Aung Myay checkpoint upon his return from delivering fermented milk to Mohnyin.
His family members have reported that they have conducted searches in the vicinity of his arrest but have not succeeded in establishing communication with him. U Thant Zin Oo is the father of two sons, and his spouse, Daw Soe Soe Nwe, is a government school teacher presently employed at Chaung Wa School.
At the conclusion of November, speculation arose regarding the death of U Thant Zin Oo; however, this information remains unverified. Residents of Chaung Wa are expressing concerns that U Thant Zin Oo may have been detained by the Shanni militia, as he held the position of NLD chairman for Chaung Wa during the tenure of the NLD government.
