The cessation of fuel tanker deliveries to Myitkyina has resulted in most of the major gas stations in the city operating on a limited basis. Furthermore, reports indicate that the SAC has obstructed the Balamin Tin Bridge, which spans the Irrawaddy River, at 8:30 on November 21st. Consequently, the residents of Myitkyina are increasingly concerned about a potential prolonged fuel shortage.
Certain gas stations are currently operating with limited hours, opening for sales in the morning and after 3 PM. Nevertheless, the majority of these stations are experiencing a gasoline shortage, as indicated by the message "gasoline is running out" displayed at the entrance, accompanied by staff signaling the unavailability of fuel.
At present, the price of a liter of gasoline in Myitkyina ranges from 9,500 to 10,000 kyats. Reports indicate that gas stations along the roadside are charging prices starting at 11,000 kyats and higher. Due to a fuel shortage, residents are unable to obtain the necessary amount of fuel. Additionally, it has been observed that fuel is being sold in restricted quantities, with prices varying between 30,000 and 50,000 kyats.
Since November 17th, certain gas stations have begun to deplete their fuel supplies. However, as of November 21st, the situation has worsened, leading to the closure of some shops. Furthermore, the SAC has once again shut down the Balamin Tin Bridge, causing residents to express concerns about a prolonged fuel shortage.
