It has been reported that a 60-year-old woman from Sum Pi Yang drowned in Inn Si Hka Creek while fleeing from arrest and interrogation by the SAC.

The residents of Sum Pi Yang village have fled into the forest because the SAC’s 88th Division columns have entered the village. Additionally, five local women were arrested and interrogated by the SAC.

It is known that these five women were arrested on May 14th by the SAC when they returned to the village to retrieve their belongings, two days after fleeing into the forest.

According to local residents, on May 15th, one of the arrested women drowned in Inn Si Hka Creek while fleeing from the SAC.

A religious leader from Putao stated, “She is the oldest of the five and I think she is over 60 years old. She was no longer strong enough to swim. It is said that the old woman floated in the Inn Si Hka Creek when the five of them fled in different directions. No one has looked for her because they are afraid of the SAC, so the body has not yet been recovered.”

The woman who drowned was in her 60s and was the oldest among the five who escaped.

Currently, the SAC No. 46 Infantry Battalion, the 88th Division, and local militia joint forces are stationed in Sum Pi Yang Village. Skirmishes with KIA/KPDF joint forces have been intensifying, and local residents have been fleeing for about a week.
