21 Male Civilians Who Were Arrested By The SAC Have Not Been Released Yet

Total of 21 innocent male civilians from Bhamo town who were arrested by the SAC forces which stationed at the Momauk District, Kachin State have not been released after a weeklong.


The civilians who were taken and arrested by the SAC forces are the locals from the 3 Miles Ward and they were arrested arbitrarily when they were at the 6 Miles Ward on August 12th. Additionally, the concern of the locals and their family members have arisen due to unrelease of the arrestees for more than a week.


Among the arrestees, there were including (20) adults and (1) elder who is suffering from malaria. Moreover, all of them were reported to be arrested arbitrarily while they were staying at their houses’ compound.


It is also known that, even though the relevant officials were coordinated with the SAC forces to release the arrestees, the SAC forces have not released them until now.


Furthermore, the Kachin Independent Army (KIA) completely seized the No (437) Infantry Joint Battalion of the SAC on 19th August which is stationed at Momauk district near Bhamo town after the offensive attack of the KIA which took more than 1 month.


The SAC’s joint military camp which was seized by the KIA was comprised by the (12) of SAC military camps; the SAC’s 437th Infantry Battalion, 415th Infantry Battalion, 416th Infantry Battalion, 320th Infantry Battalion, 13th Infantry Battalion, 40th Infantry Battalion, 83rd Infantry Battalion, 56th Infantry Battalion, 142nd Infantry Battalion, 230th Infantry Battalion, 236th Infantry Battalion and 237th Infantry Battalion. Moreover, the 500 of SAC forces were stationed at the camp.
